| Carl J. Swenson Jr. 78 1930 - 2009 Carl J. Swenson Jr. DRACUT — Carl John Swenson Jr., 78, of Dracut, formerly of Wenham, died Monday, May 4, 2009, at Saints Medical Center in Lowell. He was the husband of Rosemary (Meehan). Born in Cambridge Hospital to Carl and Elinor (Potter) Swenson on Oct. 27, 1930, and raised in Wellesley. Graduate of Hebron Academy in Maine, attended Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y. and Northeastern University in Boston. He was a corporal in the Army, having served in Korea. He was actively involved in the 1st district North Regional, Division III, Flotilla 7 of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary for approximately 25 years. He was a long-time and active member of First Congregational Church in Hamilton, and member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Pelham, N.H. He enjoyed involvement in church choirs over the years, golfing, and an avid Red Sox fan. Besides his wife of 48 years, he is survived by one sister, Jean Thorkildsen of Ballston Lake, N.Y.; three children, Kristin Lyons and her husband James of Leominster, Karen Guay and her husband Christopher of Danvers, and Carl Swenson III and his wife Elaine of Wenham; five grandchildren, Carl J. Swenson IV, Samantha Lane, Derick Swenson, Elizabeth Guay, Michael Guay, and many nieces and nephews. |
